Winter, by Tony Billings

About the Song

the song borrows ideas from ancient traditions as it references the harvest cycle.
Our distant ancestors knew exacly when to plant, when to nurture, when to harvest
and when to store their harvest to get them through the winter as they watched the
position of the sun to judge the seasons.

the song describes choosing and planting seeds, and taking care of the young plant through the winter
these kind of images can of course be used in the video, but it is also a song about the cycle of lfe in general

so it is about birth, growing, struggling through hard times

there are lines about the carefree times of youth, but also looking back at those times from the winter of life.

I am happy for you to interpret this imagery however you see it.
I do feel there should be some visions of the distant past in some way
maybe stone circles or ancient monuments .. i'd like to give it a kind of mystic feel in some way

but it is also about life, and about growth, it is a mix of nostalgia and happyness at being alive. so some of it may be quite drak but also there should be some bright parts, maybe the very end over the fade out should be a kind of sunset, maybe over a stone circle ... it doesnt have to be, just an idea.

I'm happy to say more if you need me to, but i have no specific ideas apart from this so please interpret how you feel your images will best fit the song.

I hope this can give you some inspirations to create something.

Let me know the next steps you need from me.

Thanks
Tony

Here are the Lyrics

I’ll choose the seed when the time is right -
Bless it with your name
and then to sleep and think of you.

I’ll watch the sunrise on a winter’s day -
never quite the same,
and when I dream, I dream alone.

I believe in miracles and I believe in truth.
Those endless days of innocence.

I believe in laughter, and I believe in youth.
Those boundless days of summer
and of wine.

I’ll look for new life when the Earth is cold -
hold you in my heart,
and again to close my eyes.

I’ll nurse my seedling through the time of ice,
never to depart.
And when I dream, I dream of you ,

I believe in laughter, and I believe in pain.
Those days of joy and sadness.

I believe in the songs of love.
Although I call in vain.
For I can only see you in my sleep.
